Geography Field Trip to Alton Public Gardens
We all really enjoyed our walk and visit to the Public Gardens. We had great fun with some Olympic style races, and looked for physical and human features. We also loved eating a cooling ice lolly.
Museum Experience
We really enjoyed our History 'Museum Experience'. We learnt how to make a museum display and then wrote labels for our special toys.
Woodpeckers have loved being back together at school after the Easter break. This term we are enjoying a 'Rumble in the Jungle' topic. We have already learnt some facts about Christopher Columbus, an explorer who discovered the Americas.
Before Easter we enjoyed some themed weeks including disgusting food, dinosaurs and chocolate. Below are some photos of the fun we got up to.
We have had a really wonderful return to school and were very excited to start our L2Me Music lessons.
This term we are learning 'tuned percussion' and using the chime bars, metallophones and xylophones.
We LOVE their concentrating faces!
Woodpeckers are continuing to enjoy lots of activities and learning - here is a little selection of what we have been up to.
We are looking at trees in our environment and will be observing and recording the changes during the seasons.
Have a peek into our Precious Peacocks learning space....ready for them to come and explore today!
The children learnt all about what animals need to survive - including designing and making their own animal shelters and recording all of their independent learning on Seesaw!
They made the most amazing sea creatures out of loom bands and worked out some tricky addition maths questions straight onto the table top.
Yesterday, we learnt all about Horatio Nelson and spent the morning designing and building our own boats and working out how to change our designs to improve their buoyancy! Ask your children what facts they can remember about Nelson and HMS Victory.
We are having a fun packed time each day!
History
We are learning about Horatio Nelson and HMS Victory.
We made our own boats on the Y1 park.
What facts can you remember about Nelson?
Science - Lots of questions!!
We have been looking at lots of the trees and plants on the field, and next to the bouncy path. We are going to try and learn the names of them - which ones do you know already?
The children have enjoyed their first day in the new Flamingo Class. Our home corner has proved very popular as well as playing on the big playground. We had a picnic lunch outside under the Flamingo Canopy and all of the children have been superstars at washing their hands regularly throughout the day. Use the photos to prompt your child's memory about what they have been enjoying to day. Please remember to bring named wellies and water bottles and check that their uniform is named too.
The Woodpeckers have had a brilliant day - lots of staying safe with handwashing and lots of fun too. We have spent most of the day outside enjoying the Year 1 Park and the courtyard as well as the field. The grass is quite wet now in the mornings so please make sure your child has named wellies in school.
