Getting ready to start

At Wootey we understand what an important step starting school is for you and your child. We take the time to get to know your child before they start with us in September. We also make sure that you know us and what life will be like for your child at Wootey.

Parents' Information Evening

This is held early in the Summer Term and is an opportunity to show you round the classrooms and other learning areas of the school. You can meet our staff and get to know our school. We will provide you with useful day to day information about your child's future experiences with us.

Visits to pre-schools

Wootey Infant School staff introduce themselves to your child at their pre-school and liaise with pre-school staff to get to know your child.

Home Visits

During the Summer Term we like to visit you and your child at home. Our staff can really get to know your child- being in their own environment, with familiar surroundings. The children enjoy sharing a wide variety of home interests with their new teachers. Whilst not compulsory, we believe that these meetings can really help your child become comfortable with the start of their new journey into school life.

Stay and Play

We will invite you and your child to visit the school once a week during the latter part of the Summer Term. This gives your child the opportunity to play and learn in their new classrooms and outdoor spaces both alongside you and, when ready, independently. There are always members of staff available to answer your individual questions.

Family Meetings

At the end of the Summer Term there is an opportunity for you and your child to meet our Headteacher Mrs Ella Palmer. Ella loves to meet the new children and finds this a great opportunity to get to know both children and parents personally.
